Diamond Information

When purchasing a diamond there are many factors to take into account, the main factors are:

Diamond Cut

Diamond Colour

Diamond Clarity

All of these factors have a big impact on the quality of the diamond and therefore the price, listed
below is details and specifics of each section in detail:

DIAMOND CLARITY

Clarity is a term used to describe the absence or presence of flaws inside or on the surface of a diamond or other gemstone.
A perfect stone with perfect clarity--clearness--is rare, and most flaws that do exist in jewelry grade diamonds cannot be seen without looking at stones through a jeweler's magnifying glass.

The better the clarity of the diamond, the higher in price it goes.
Generally speaking Castile offers most of it products in the SI Range - as they are still perfect diamonds , yet they enable you to get a diamond for an affordable price.

We can set any clarity of diamond you wish into every design of ring we sell, if this is the case and you'd like to change the clarity, feel free to contact us on the contact page.

DIAMOND COLOUR

Diamonds are not all truly colourless, but it's the colourless, often called white, which are diamonds that other shades are judged against.

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has devised a set of guidelines to grade diamond colour. The colour of graded diamonds is compared to the color of control stones, preselected gems of a specific colour.

Diamond Grading Procedure

  • Graded diamonds must be loose stones, because the color diamonds in settings can be affected by the metal colors used in the mountings.

  • Diamonds are placed tabledown, pavillion-up and viewed with a 10X Magnifying Glass
  • A lettering system from D to Z is used to identify the amount of color present in each diamond, with D awarded only to rare, totally colorless diamonds.

Castile generally uses 'H' Colour Diamonds in our jewellery as they are a good all rounder and look clear to the human eye.
Once again, we can source lower grade colour diamonds and also higher grade - which you can submit as a request on our contact page.
